CHICAGO - William "Still Bill" Asbury made his transition on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at home. William was born
and raised in Chicago, IL. He was the only son of six siblings born to William E. Asbury and Theodosia Stewart-Asbury. He
shared a special bond with his twin, Willetta Washington, who proceeded him in death.
During his formative years, William attended Ward Elementary School and Hirsch High School. His vocational training
was through the Bureau for Blind Services (BBS) Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Program of Illinois Department of Human
Services (IDHS). William Asbury's career spanned over thirty years in food and vending services across the Chicago area
including owner and operator of SBA Vending, Inc. He was a gifted singer. He performed with his family group named
"Perfect Harmony" for many years across the city. William was a long-time member of Trinity United Church of Christ
where he was a member of the Men's Chorus.
William is survived by his siblings Carolyn Smith (Eddie), Sylvia Weeden, Sonja Smith (Stan), LaVerta Caldwell, Elizabeth
Pulliam (Sister in love), his children William “Joey” Nelson, LaTricia Asbury-Price (Reginald Price), Lewis Asbury (Nicole
Friar), his grandchildren Liyah Asbury, LeMaria Asbury, Lyric Asbury, Nyla Asbury, Alexander Price and Lewis Asbury Jr.
and a host of nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Services for William will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024 at Trinity UCC 400 East
95th St Chicago, IL, wake at 10 am and service begins at 11 am. The repast will be
held at Park Manor Christian Church, 600 East 73rd St. immediately after.
